Athletics—This semester has been a successful one for the brothers of PA Delta in athletics. Within the brotherhood, the intramural flag football team (6-0) and the soccer team (2-2) each reached the playoffs this season. Football takes on Phi Delt this week in the semi-finals, and will play in the finals immediately after that game if they are to win. Quarterback and PA Delta President, Andrew Kerber ’18, says, “We really like our chances of bringing home a championship this year. Our brotherhood as a whole is improving in athletics a lot, so hopefully we can bring a championship to the house this year.” Soccer lost in the semifinals last week, but will reconvene this Saturday for the third place game.

Outside of intramurals, two brothers, Eric Sheng ’19 and Ryan Leone ’19, helped Penn’s Sprint Football team win the league championship and go undefeated the entire year. RB Leone gained 26 yards on 11 carries for the year, but looks to gain more playing time next year as a junior. On the defensive side, Sheng added three tackles on the season after leaving his hammer-throwing career at the beginning of the season to return to football.

Volunteering—The active brothers have made a concerted effort to increase service opportunities this semester. As Vice President of Communications, I have tried to expand the role to offer brothers these opportunities for the brothers’ personal growths. For example, one weekend in October, we organized a barbecue with a homeless veteran’s shelter, The Veteran’s Group, and helped them complete a service project. The brothers helped the home with landscaping work, and we were able to completely remodel the front of their property with gravel and customized bricks saluting fallen troops and other service organizations. Our efforts were then recognized on The Veteran’s Group’s website. All brothers came away from the day having heard great stories from the veterans we worked with. CLICK HERE FOR MORE PHOTOS

Homecoming—We had a great turnout from PA Delta alumni for Homecoming this year. Several members of the class of ’78, the first class to obtain the 4028 Walnut Chapter House, visited campus. They shared great stories of how we were able to obtain the house and what Penn and SigEp were like during their time here. Coffee and donuts were provided in the morning for the alumni before the game and, after the alumni and active brothers returned to the house, we hosted a barbecue with them. The active brothers are very grateful to have the opportunity to connect with alumni from so many years ago and share stories.
