"I am a partner in Cisterra Development with Steve Black, who founded the company in 1999, where we develop and invest in large real estate projects, mostly in San Diego.  Most recently we completed in 2015 the new headquarters building for Sempra Energy just over the outfield fence of Petco Park.  In 2007, we completed DiamondView Tower, also just over the outfield fence.  If you watched the 2016 MLB All-Star game, you could see both buildings clearly—one having Sempra Energy on top and the other Comerica Bank.

I am now in the process of entitling, designing, financing and leasing my next project, which will also be visible from Petco Park.  It is on the block just North of Sempra Energy.  The building will be the largest and tallest building in San Diego and will include a Ritz Carlton hotel, Whole Foods Market, 270 residential units, 150,000 square feet of office space and close to 900 parking spaces.  I should get through those steps in the next few months and be under construction by third quarter of 2017 with completion slated for 2020.  We bought a 300,000 square foot building in early 2015 and leased it to the City of San Diego and are currently in escrow to purchase another 315,000 square foot building to also lease to the City.  Once completed, we will be the City’s largest landlord.  We have 11 acres of raw land in the suburbs that we are entitling for 450,000 square feet of corporate campus office space.

I’m still involved with rugby.  I played on the National Team in 2000 and 2001, but now I’m just coaching my club in San Diego and, on occasion, I play in an “Old Boys” tournament where everyone has to be over 35 or 45.  I still enjoy playing in the 35+ division, but my body is telling me I should just stick with the 45+ divisions.

Also, I’m getting married again in Miami on November 5 to Ruth Jean.  Ruth competes as an IFBB professional bodybuilder in the bikini class, most recently at the Olympia contest in Las Vegas, so I spend lots of time supporting her with her competitions.  My oldest daughter is a freshman at Georgia Tech on their cheerleading squad and my youngest is a sixth grader at La Jolla Country Day School."
