Ten SigEp brothers had the opportunity to attend the national Carlson Leadership Academy from February 5-7. The three-day retreat was hosted in Stamford, Conn. and was attended by SigEp Chapters throughout the Northeast Region. Carlson Leadership Academy (CLA) is a national conference centered around the different officer positions within SigEP and how to excel as house leaders. Brothers learned not only different leadership techniques and strategies to better achieve SigEp ideals, but also the different details behind SigEp policies towards insurance, the Balanced Man Program and recruitment. Furthermore, brothers were able to field questions to members of the SigEp National Board of Directors and honor volunteers, Regional Directors and District Governors in their continued support of SigEp.

One of Penn Delta’s highlights of the retreat was Steven Acchione, the current chapter President, and his recognition as a Tragos Quest Scholar. The Tragos Quest is an annual SigEp sponsored trip to Greece in which five brothers from each region are able to learn more about SigEp’s founding roots and the different Greek ideals that inspire SigEp’s leaders. After being vetted through an extremely competitive process, Penn Delta was fortunate enough to have Steven nominated as a Tragos Quest to Greece Scholar, something that hasn’t been done since 2008, when Stilianos Plakas ’09 received the honor. We’re excited for Steven and hope he brings back what he’s learned to our brotherhood.
