SigEp Penn Delta is immensely fortunate and proud to welcome 26 new gentleman to its brotherhood this past month. As one of its most diverse classes yet, we expect the class of Spring 2016 to not only live up to our values of virtue, diligence, and brotherly love, but also excel both internally and in their campus endeavors. Activities within the class range from Varsity Football and Track & Field to the Penn Political Union, the Biomedical Engineering Society, and Penn ROTC. Attached is also the ethnic and undergraduate school breakdown of the new class.

Recruitment this semester was different from our traditional recruitment process for two big reasons. The first was the altered recruitment schedule, in which Fraternity Rush began two days later than usual in an effort to have less of an impact on the Panhellenic process. As such, Open Rush began on the Friday of the first week of school instead of the first day of classes, which meant that Brothers had to step up in the days preceding and represent SigEp in full force. For the two days of Open Rush, we served Dippin Dots and a full pig roast as prepared by our house chef. Afterwards, during Closed Rush, we hosted events such as an off-campus Casino Night, went to see a Flyers game, and hosted a brotherhood dinner to distribute bids.

The second reason for our deviation was our goal of recruiting a class that excelled in campus presence. When meeting potential new members throughout rush, we focused our conversations around their passions and other interests. By seeing what inspired everyone, we were better able to build a diverse class around a common vision- making SigEp the best it possibly can. Although it’s only been a few weeks, we are already proud of the new class and excited to see what they can do in the future.
