Dear Brothers,

I hope everyone is doing well.

I am writing to you regarding Jeremy W. Valentine. As you know, Jeremy was killed last year in a tragic car accident that took his life and seriously injured his wife of 17 years, Seana Giobbi Valentine, as well as their children Luke and Molly.

First, here is an update on the Valentine family. Seana has made a remarkable recovery and is getting her mobility and speech back to near normal. Her strength and perseverance in handling everything over the past year has truly been inspirational. Luke and Molly are doing really well and have started school. Matt Silk and I had the pleasure of having dinner with Seana and the kids (plus her dad Tom and stepmom Katie) in Chicago last month, and it was really great to catch up in person with them.

Many Sig Eps have asked, “When and how can we help?” Now is a good time for us to make this happen. Sig Eps take care of their own. This defining principal has been fundamental to our brotherhood and friendship during and since our time at Penn. We have rallied together in good times–engagements, weddings, the births of our children, reunions etc. Now, we can strengthen our bonds in the face of tragedy, and look after the family of one of our own who was suddenly taken away from all of us.

With the help of a few of you, I have coordinated with Seana to identify a way for us to contribute money in Jeremy’s honor. A trust has been established for Seana and the kids – “The Valentine Family Trust.” The money we raise will be long-term financial support for the family. If you would like to make a contribution to the trust, here are the details:

Please make your check payable to “The Valentine Family Trust.”

Checks should be mailed to the attention of Tom Giobbi at 243 West Main Street, Glenwood, IL 60425.

If you prefer to make a wire transfer in lieu of a check, a Chase account has been set up for the trust; This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and I can help make arrangements with the Giobbi family for a wire transfer to happen.

Equally as important as financial contributions, I ask all of you to make a concerted effort to maintain contact with Seana. Seana needs to know that we will always be there for her and the kids, no matter what.

Jeremy would have done the same, no questions asked. If your work schedule or travel plans take you through Chicago, please reach out to Seana. You can find her regularly on Facebook, her email is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and her mobile number is 708.518.8830. She would love to hear from you.
